The Church of Sweden suffers from an acute shortage of church musicians.

By 2030, 700 people are needed who want to work as organists.

Hans Davidsson, organist and organ teacher in Älvsborg's church, believes that the goal is possible.

- You notice that there is a great interest among children to play the organ, he says.

The Church of Sweden recently launched the pilot project "Organists at the forefront" which has issued recommendations to the congregations.

The goal is crystal clear: get children and young people to discover the organ.

Therefore, nine-year-olds are now invited to "organ experiences" and today's organists are asked to have organ students.

Organ student Gustav Hagstedt usually practices five to six times a week.

- It is not that difficult.

But long stretches can be challenging, he says.
