Koblenz (dpa / lrs) - For a new start in the event of an improved corona situation, the city of Koblenz is putting together a support package for business, trade and culture.

Up to 1.1 million euros should be available, said Mayor David Langner (SPD) at the presentation of the package of measures on Monday in Koblenz.

This includes state funding for “Inner City Impulse” totaling 500,000 euros for 2021 and 2022.

"It is a vitamin injection that we want to get started with this campaign," said Langner.

A “restart marketing campaign” with long nights of shopping and stage programs in the cultural sector is planned as part of the package.

Tourism should also be stimulated and the development of the city center should be taken into account.

"We want to encourage people to go downtown again," said Langner.

With the corona pandemic, “community life” in Koblenz “changed significantly”.

Everyone involved was looking for solutions.

In addition to medium- and long-term concepts, it is “urgently about achieving an active and, above all, effective restart for the city after the current pandemic situation has improved,” it said.
