In 2020, the Scouts gained 3,000 new members.

A speech that they themselves describe as a record increase.

Several scout unions in Östergötland have seen increases in the number of members, including the unions Krokek, Grebo, Vadstena and Vreta Kloster are on the top list of the unions that saw the largest percentage increase in Sweden.

Krokek's scout corps grew by more than 20 percent, which Eva Söderström, chairman of Krokek's scout corps, believes may be due to the fact that it has been possible to keep the business open during the pandemic.

- I think it has meant a lot to the young people and children that you still have something to do, says Eva Söderström.

"I generally felt better"

Julian Devgun Johansen has been a scout for almost ten years.

He says that he thinks it has been nice to be able to go to the scouts during the pandemic.

- It was a while we had distance learning and then it became quite boring and lonely to be at home.

So when you came to the scouts you met people and then you got a little happier and generally felt better.
