New York (AP) - Entrepreneur Elon Musk told US television that he had Asperger's Syndrome.

"By the way, I'm writing history tonight as the first person with Asperger's to host the SNL," said Musk in the entertainment show "Saturday Night Live" on NBC on Saturday.

“Or at least the first to admit it.” Several US media then pointed out that Dan Aykroyd (“Ghostbusters”), who had been part of the SNL ensemble for many years and later guest host, had already spoken publicly about his Asperger's.

In the run-up to the show, there had been discussions as to whether Musk should have been offered the guest moderation at all.

In the past, the Tesla founder was repeatedly criticized for controversial statements.

“I've reinvented electric cars and I'm sending people to Mars in a rocket.

Did you think I was a laid back normal guy too? ”Musk said.

Asperger's Syndrome is considered to be a manifestation on the autism spectrum.

According to the diagnostic criteria, autism can mean that those affected are restricted in social and communication skills.

Asperger's or so-called high functioning autism is often associated with a higher level of intelligence than "classic" autism.

Some sufferers see autism as a disability, many use the keyword neurodiversity to argue that they just have a different type of perception.
