It was in mid-January that a 36-year-old inmate serving a year in prison for gross fraud received a very painful awakening.
According to the indictment that has now been brought in Ångermanland District Court, he was asleep when one of his fellow prisoners poured boiling water over him.
He was burnt on 10-15 percent of the body's surface and also got a subsequent infection.
Some of the injuries are judged to be able to lead to permanent damage.
Denies crime
The fellow prisoner, a 46-year-old man who is serving a sentence for aggravated drug smuggling, denies having committed any crime.
District Attorney Katarina Becker charges him with aggravated assault.
She believes that the 46-year-old through his actions showed special ruthlessness and rudeness.
