Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Due to supply bottlenecks in the corona pandemic, disposable syringes for infusion pumps have been used several times in the Ernst von Bergmann Clinic in Potsdam.

It is a “clear violation of applicable hygiene regulations”, says Hans-Ulrich Schmidt, spokesman for the clinic's management.

However, this did not endanger the patient.

"The syringes were used twice on the same patient with the same drug, as intended once," said spokeswoman Theresa Decker.

"We're working that up."

The "Potsdamer Neuesten Nachrichten" had previously reported on it.

According to the clinic, the bottleneck extended over two days on the weekend from April 30th to May 2nd.

"In principle, single-use materials can only be used once," says Klaus-Dieter Zastrow, chief hospital hygienist.

“Regardless of the hospital, we have to keep an eye on the fact that hygiene errors by staff keep coming back.

That mustn't happen. "

The clinic was criticized at the beginning of the corona pandemic.

In March 2020, infections with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen increased in patients and employees at the facility.

After an inspection, the Robert Koch Institute criticized, among other things, that moving entire wards may have favored the infections.
