On Sunday, the new Hisingsbron was inaugurated.

The opening of the Götaälv Bridge's replacement was to be held on a smaller scale due to the corona pandemic and the exact time for the ribbon cutting was kept secret from the general public.

But despite this, hundreds of people had gathered on both sides of the bridge to get the chance to be among the first to cross to the other side, which created some congestion.

Reaction on social media

Several have now reacted in social media, among other things, to the fact that the event attracted a lot of people.

One who is critical is nursing student Paul Spartalis who followed the inauguration via a live broadcast.

- It is remarkable that so many are allowed to gather, he says.

At the Traffic Office, they themselves are surprised that there was such a large turnout.

- They came more than we had imagined, says Mikael Nummedal, project manager for Hisingsbron at the Traffic Office in Gothenburg city.

In the clip above, the Swedish Transport Administration responds to the criticism.
