Hanover (dpa / lni) - In the Lower Saxony AfD, a showdown of strength between the two blocs of the party is looming after the state election management questions the candidate list for the federal election.

According to a letter from the regional election officer Ulrike Sachs to the party, it “cannot be predicted” whether the state election committee will accept or reject the list presented.

Because 24 of the party members were not invited to the assembly meeting, the AfD itself had subsequently asked the state election management to check the validity.

After dpa information, the state executive is now considering a new list.

In the line-up, the right-wing camp around the new state chairman Jens Kestner surprisingly pulled the short straw and candidates from the moderate forces previously dominating in Lower Saxony came out on top.

Now, according to information from the political journal “Rundblick”, there is also talk of a “compromise list” for a possible new constellation meeting, at which representatives from both camps will be given top seats.

Such an understanding is questionable, however, because an extraordinary state party congress is scheduled for this Saturday, for which critics of the state executive have submitted motions for voting - there could be a risk of a fall.
