Donauwörth (dpa / lby) - The police and rescue services with helicopters and boats in Doanuwörth were looking for a supposedly unfortunate fisherman.

A witness called the emergency number on Monday morning because he feared the fisherman had been swept away by the currents of the Danube, the police said.

According to his own account, the witness saw the 60-year-old angler with water pants and a fishing hat standing in the river.

About 30 seconds later, according to the witness, he could no longer be seen.

According to the information, forces from the police, fire brigade and water rescue station searched the area near the Old Danube Harbor without finding anyone.

In the morning a witness reported who had seen a man who matched the description of the witness at around the same time.

The man came out of the water over a stone staircase.

Therefore, the police are currently not assuming an accident, it said.
