Itzehoe (dpa / lno) - The Itzehoe police are looking for witnesses in the case of a crime 37 years ago on the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY unsolved" (May 12, 8:15 pm).

The investigators of the Itzehoer homicide commission hope to gain new information on the case from 1983, as the police announced on Monday.

Herbert Kahrs, then 34 years old, left his place of residence in Twielenfleth, Lower Saxony, on September 10, 1983, for his workplace in Hamburg, but did not arrive there.

On November 29, 1983, witnesses found the body of the missing person in the district of Holm in the Pinneberg district, dead in a shaft of a ditch drainage system.

Kahrs had been shot.

Even after Kahr's disappearance, witnesses saw his car in Hamburg and in the Pinneberg district.

The car was finally salvaged from the Elbe on January 31, 1984.
