Marktredwitz (dpa / lby) - A 31-year-old died in a head-on collision between two cars in Upper Franconia.

Despite resuscitation, the man still died at the scene of the accident, the police said on Sunday.

The man was therefore on Sunday afternoon with a 20-year-old in the direction of Marktredwitz (Wunsiedel district in the Fichtelgebirge) when he lost control of the car on the winding and hilly road and collided with an oncoming car.

The two men were trapped in the vehicle.

A rescue helicopter flew the 20-year-old to a clinic after the crash with serious injuries.

The 37-year-old driver of the oncoming car suffered minor injuries.
