Liz Cheney's future as Republicans number three in the House of Representatives seems well and truly sealed.

On Sunday, several senior party officials, including the group's number one in the chamber, said they supported a vote against her.

The decision is expected to take place on Wednesday.

Liz Cheney should be replaced by a young elected, Elise Stefanik.

A change that once again illustrates Donald Trump's hold on the party.

Because if Liz Cheney is sidelined it is because she did not hesitate to publicly oppose Donald Trump.

The daughter of former vice-president Dick Cheney notably voted for the impeachment of Donald Trump after the attack on the Capitol.

She also called on the party to walk away from the former president and his lies about a rigged election.

Also proof of the power of Donald Trump, Elise Stefanik, who should therefore replace Liz Cheney, is a faithful of the Republican billionaire.

However, Elise Stefanik has only been elected for six years, until then she was considered a progressive and rather tended to vote more easily with the Democrats.

But her staunch defense of Donald Trump made her "a star" and won her the support of the former president.

Republicans maintain that this vote against Liz Cheney aims to unite the party, but rather it risks marking a little more the divide between the faithful of Donald Trump and those who wish to move away from it.
