He called on Israel to stop evictions of residents under international humanitarian law.
Earlier, Pope Francis called for an end to clashes in Jerusalem, during which at least 300 people have suffered in recent days.
On May 7, clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem injured 205 people.
