With its Trophées de l'Avenir, Europe 1 rewards companies, associations and local authorities each year for their daring, innovation and visionary side.

In the running for the Europe 1 listeners' favorite trophy, the Book Exchange makes it possible to simply resell and buy second-hand books.

"Making the occasion a standard": this is the goal set by Alexandre Taillandier, Tom Castano and Dorian Lovera when they founded La Bourse aux Livres.

This "100% French" online consignment shop allows anyone, via an application, to resell one or more books very quickly, and thus allow books to have a new life with a new owner.

And with the successive confinements, the three accomplices saw their concept, a sort of "Vinted of the book", explode.

"More than 300,000 revalued books"

"Since our launch on January 21, 2020, we have upgraded more than 300,000", confides at the microphone of Europe 1 Alexandre Taillandier.

It must be said that everything has been put in place to make the sale of second-hand books as easy as possible for owners who want to save space in their library.

Thanks to the dedicated application, all you have to do is scan the barcode of the book to find out how much La Bourse aux Livres will be able to resell it.

All that remains is to send it to the depot and the company takes care of finding a new owner within 365 days.

"The prices are three to five times cheaper than new", assures Alexandre Taillandier, who emphasizes that the Book Exchange contributes to making "culture accessible to all".

The Book Exchange is in the running with Les Determinés, Les bureaux du cœur and # 1CabasPour1Étudiant in the listener favorite category of the Europe 1 Trophies of the Future 2021. Vote for your favorite candidate here

"Standardize" the purchase of used books

Aware that "second hand rhymes too often with old", and therefore in poor condition, the 24-year-old co-founder also specifies that "more than 70% of the books that pass through [his] company are in new condition", and for good reason , most books are read only once. Alexandre Taillandier therefore wishes to "normalize" the purchase of second-hand books, and allow the French to "consume more economically, but also more environmentally". Because each "second-hand purchase saves more than 1.2kg of CO2".
