Mannheim (dpa / lnw) - The women of Düsseldorf HC and the men of Rot-Weiss Köln have secured the title at the German field hockey championships in Mannheim.

The Rhinelander defeated the host MHC 3-2 in the penalty shootout in the final on Sunday, thus securing the first field title in club history.

Subsequently, Rot-Weiss Köln dethroned the defending champion Uhlenhorst Mülheim 1-0 (0-0).

Match winner for the people of Domstadt was the ex-Mülheimer Elian Mazkour with his goal from the 38th minute.

For the first round, it was the ninth title in the club's history.

Record champions Mülheim, however, missed the third triumph in a row.

The decision in the women's final was taken care of by national player Selin Oruz as the tenth shooter.

As in the semi-finals, the match winner at the DHC was Nathalie Kubalski.

"I'm relieved, overjoyed and very proud of the girls," said the national goalkeeper.

In the 1-1 draw in regular time, Emma Sophie Heßler (18th) brought the DHC into the lead with a penalty corner, before Florencia Habif (54th) also equalized with a penalty corner.
