Frankfurt / Hamburg (dpa / lno) - For the Hamburg Towers there is a reunion with defending champion Alba Berlin in the playoff quarter-finals of the basketball Bundesliga.

On the last day of the main round, the table seventh could not improve due to the 89:96 (39:46) defeat at the Frankfurt Skyliners and the victory of rival Ulm in Bonn.

The most successful throwers in the Hanseatic League, who competed without top scorer Maik Kotsar, were Terry Allen and TJ Shorts on Sunday with 17 points each.

The Hamburger did not find their game against the young team of Hessen from the start.

In the second quarter, the gap was 15 points at times.

This was also due to the lack of efficiency in the offensive actions.

Although Hamburg had significantly more two-man throws, they only scored 13 out of 25 attempts. The rate was even worse for the three-mans, of which only two out of eleven were throws.

Frankfurt converted six of 13 litters here.

In the third quarter it briefly looked as if the Towers could turn the tide after all.

But after the interim 51:54, the Frankfurt team pulled away again and even increased their lead to 16 points.

Rashed Moore finally ended another chase by the Towers with a three with 50 seconds to go.
