Several news items have placed the theme of security at the heart of the political debate.

A theme on which Emmanuel Macron is particularly attacked by the opposition, which depicts a President of the Republic who would not be comfortable on this subject.

As for the Élysée, we insist on the means put in place since 2017.

A policeman killed Wednesday in Avignon, urban violence this weekend in Fréjus ... New news has shaken the news in recent days, and come to put in difficulty the top of the State.

The executive is once again under fire from criticism on questions of security and authority, with the idea that Emmanuel Macron would not be up to nor comfortable with these two subjects.

This suspicion is based in particular on the 25% increase in clashes between gangs over one year.

These statistics are certainly to be put in parallel with the sharp drop in armed robberies or the stabilization of homicides, but whatever the figures: the feeling of insecurity exists.

And the policy is doing its work.

"The oppositions eat up," annoys a member of the cabinet.

"There are acts"

At the Élysée, we recognize a "collective weariness" after recent news items, as well as a "trivialization of violence".

"There may be a problem of story, because there are acts", wants to believe an adviser who recalls the investments in the material of the police officers or the 10,000 recruitments.

"We put people back on the ground," pleads this close to the President of the Republic.

The question remains: can Emmanuel Macron change his image on security? At the top of the state, it is said that the means deployed since 2017 will eventually pay off, but some macronists are already calling for a better judicial response. "There is a problem of execution of justice", confides a relative of the host of the Elysee, while an important deputy adds: "We must shake harder".
