Leipzig (dpa / sn) - According to the police, a young Israeli woman was prevented from entering the apartment building in Leipzig-Gohlis in early May by a German neighbor.

The 46-year-old woman stood in the way of the 26-year-old on the evening of May 3 and made derogatory comments about her origin, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday when asked.

It will be investigated on suspicion of coercion.

The state security is also examining the case with regard to further allegations.

According to a report in the “Leipziger Volkszeitung” online, the neighbor is said to have attacked the young woman violently because of her language, insulted her and also tried to break down her door.

"I'm scared, nervous and offended," wrote the Israeli in a Facebook post.

She and her friend therefore left their apartment and the city that night.
