Hanover (dpa / lni) - Two male perpetrators smashed several car windows in the Kirchrode district of Hanover on Sunday night and triggered a helicopter mission.
As a police spokeswoman announced to the dpa on Sunday, a witness had observed two suspects smashing a car window near the Eilenriede forest and dialed the emergency number.
A total of eight cars were damaged, it is said - in four cases the break-in was attempted, in four others it was successful.
The perpetrators then fled on foot.
A little later, a police patrol picked up a 22-year-old man at the wheel of a strange car who had a breath alcohol level of 1.23 per mille.
He had cuts that, according to initial findings, matched blood stains on the destroyed windows.
A helicopter was also used in the search, but the search for the second suspect was unsuccessful.
The 22-year-old was arrested and a blood sample was ordered.
