Hanover (dpa / lni) - The corona situation in Lower Saxony continues to relax.

On Sunday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 932 new infections within one day, a week earlier there had been over 400 more cases (1363).

The nationwide seven-day incidence fell from 101.7 to 83.4 during this time.

The incidence indicates how many people were newly infected per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

Half of the federal states are now below the politically relevant incidence threshold of 100.

The highest incidence values ​​were found for the cities of Delmenhorst (177.9), Wolfsburg (164.0) and Salzgitter (156.3) as well as the district of Vechta (147.0).

The incidence was lowest in the Wittmund district (28.1), followed by the Friesland district (36.5) and the city of Wilhelmshaven (36.8).

Two more deaths have been recorded since Saturday.

So far 5,406 people have died in Lower Saxony in connection with a corona infection.

Almost 2.7 million people have reportedly received a first Covid vaccination and around 635,000 have already received a second.

The rate of Lower Saxony who had at least the first vaccination was 33.4 percent.

In the state of Bremen, the number of confirmed new infections rose by 89 to 26,106. The seven-day incidence was 99.2.
