China News Service, Sanya, May 9 (Reporter Wang Xiaobin) On May 9, the national hybrid rice double-season project with a yield of 3,000 kg per mu in Sanya achieved a bumper harvest for the first time, and the yield of early-planting rice was 1004.83 kg per mu.

In November 2020, the average yield per mu of hybrid rice in the morning and evening double-cropping rice in Hunan exceeded 1,500 kg (3,000 jin).

In December 2020, with Yuan Longping as the chief scientist, the national hybrid rice double-cropping 3,000 catties per mu project was launched in Sanya.

On May 9, the demonstration site in Sanya Haitang Bay Rice National Park took the lead in harvesting early-growing rice.

The expert team for production testing on the day was led by Xie Huaan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and researcher of the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The batch of "Chaoyouqian" rice tested for production was sown on December 16, 2020, and transplanted on January 13, 2021, with a planting density of 20cm* (20cm+30cm).

Three plots were selected at the site. After the actual harvested grains were weighed, taking into account factors such as machine damage, impurities, and moisture content, the final measured value was 1014.56 kg/mu for the first field, 1009.45 kg/mu for the second field, and 990.48 kg for the third field. /Mu, with an average of 1004.83 kg/mu.

"I have confidence in reaching the test target of 3,000 jin per mu in double-season." The project leader and deputy dean of the Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Cao Bing, introduced that after harvesting these batches of rice, the experimental field will prepare for the cultivation demonstration of late-growing rice.

Because of the high environmental temperature and the relatively short growth period of rice, the rice grown in Hainan is not known for high yields.

Xie Huaan said that if Hainan achieves the goal of 3,000 catties in two seasons, this will create a good model. "Since high yield per unit area can be created here, other places can also learn and apply the cultivation model here to promote high yield and high efficiency of rice. produce".
