Former Mitterrandiens and left-wing personalities gathered on Sunday in Le Creusot to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the election of François Mitterrand.

To commemorate a "historic" moment, but also to look to the presidential election of 2022. François Hollande, Lionel Jospin, Bernard Cazeneuve and Anne Hidalgo will notably be present.

It is a long-awaited family photo: that of personalities of the left, gathered on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the election of François Mitterrand, on May 10, 1981. To celebrate this victory, François Hollande, Lionel Jospin, Bernard Cazeneuve, but also Anne Hidalgo, potential candidate for the left for 2022, meet on Sunday in Le Creusot, around several round tables.

A symbolic day far from trivial at a time when the left is trying to come together, one year before the presidential election.

"Show that the left has its place for 2022"

The various heirs of François Mitterrand were to arrive Sunday at the TGV station in Le Creusot, inaugurated by François Mitterrand 40 years earlier.

Lionel Jospin, Jean Glavany, former chief of staff of Mitterrand, Pierre Joxe, his former minister, must also be present.

With François Hollande, all accompanied the first socialist president, on May 10, 1981. "This victory is that of the forces of youth, of the forces of work, of the forces of creation, of the forces of renewal which have come together in a great national spirit. ", then launched Mitterrand during his first statement, in Château-Chinon, one hour from Le Creusot.

Forty years later, the former Mitterrandiens want to celebrate a "historic moment" as well as "the great reforms of 1981". Among them, the abolition of the death penalty, the 39 hours or the 5th week of paid leave. In the ranks of the left, they say they want to carry a message of pride and hope, "to show that the left has its place for 2022". Anne Hidalgo, potential candidate in 2022, will be present, but not the boss of the PS Olivier Faure. Even if he was invited, he will finally be in Paris, for the climate march.
