“As a general rule, if a citizen applies for several types of pensions at once, the largest payment from the given choice is drawn up through the Pension Fund of Russia.
However, the pension legislation establishes a number of categories of pensioners who can receive two pensions at the same time, ”lawyer Denis Spitsyn said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to him, pensioners who have received a disability due to a military injury can apply for a double payment.
This category also includes liquidators of man-made disasters.
In addition, the two-fold pension, as noted by the lawyer, is due to veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War.
The third group of persons who are eligible for this payment, Spitsyn named family members of military personnel who died while serving in the army or due to a military injury.
The lawyer clarified that the families of the deceased cosmonauts are entitled to a double pension.
Also, test pilots, cosmonauts, as well as servicemen of individual units "in the presence of the statutory length of service" are eligible for payment.
Finally, a double pension is paid to citizens who have the honorary title "Resident of the besieged Leningrad".
