Hamburg (dpa / lno) - A 42-year-old is said to have stolen diesel fuel from several trucks in more than 50 cases.
According to the police, civil investigators arrested the man on Saturday night in Hamburg-Jenfeld.
Accordingly, they had noticed him when he was drawing fuel from the tank of a truck using a hose.
The owner of the car had already filed a criminal complaint because fuel had been stolen from the tank more than 50 times since January this year, presumably around 2500 liters of diesel.
The suspect is also said to have tampered with another truck that was parked in the immediate vicinity.
When civil investigators tried to arrest the man, he first tried to flee.
According to the police, the officers used pepper spray.
In addition, the fire brigade's environmental service was alerted because the theft had spilled fuel onto the roadway and into the sewer system.
