Meppen (dpa / lni) - SV Meppen suffered a serious setback in the relegation battle of the 3rd division.

The Emslanders lost the north duel with penultimate VfB Lübeck on Sunday with 0: 2 (0: 0).

Long-time Meppener Thorben Deters brought the newcomer into the lead in the 55th minute.

The 25-year-old almost scored a second goal twelve minutes later, but this time only hit the crossbar.

Martin Röser made the decision when he converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute.

The Meppener have now been without a win in the 3rd division for seven games.

With a draw they could have sealed Lübeck's relegation.
