09 May 2021 "We are happy", so Elena Rondelli, the lawyer of Simonetta Filippini's family, rejoices upon the arrival in Italy, at the Pisa airport, of the family from Campi Bisenzio (Florence) who, due to Covid, was stuck in India where on April 19 she went to adopt a girl.

Enzo Galli and Simonetta Filippini, who in the meantime had contracted the virus and whose conditions had worsened to the point of requiring his hospitalization, an event that triggered a mobilization to speed up their return to Italy from India, were brought last night in an ambulance, together with their child, to Florence, to be entrusted to the care of the doctors of the Careggi Hospital.

The couple landed last night at Pisa airport aboard a medical flight equipped for bio-containment and made possible thanks to donations - for 130 thousand euros - and funding from all over Italy.

"Simonetta went down on her legs and without oxygen, so the regional councilor for Civil Protection Monia Monni told us - explains the lawyer Elena Rondelli -. Now Simonetta must defeat this virus and we are also waiting to know the conditions of her husband and of the daughter ".

"Our thoughts - declares the lawyer of the Galli family - go to the parents, worried about their daughter. We are happy, we have reached the goal, now I am at home. When Enzo Galli called me a few days ago to entrust me with the task he said: 'take us home, we trust you'. We did it in a very short time and breaking down the bureaucracy, thanks to an extraordinary participation and sensitivity ".

The return to Italy was possible thanks to an impressive collaboration between the consulate, which sent the estimates of the airlines, the Tuscany Region, which organized the reception at the Careggi hospital, and the Ministry of Health which authorized the repatriation.

The mayor of Campi Bisenzio, Emiliano Fossi, was present at the Pisa airport to welcome the family: "As soon as the conditions are right - he said -, we are waiting for Simonetta, Enzo and the child to have a nice party and close this in the best possible way. history, "he says smiling.

To welcome the family, on the track, the regional councilor for Civil Protection, Monia Monni: "As a mother - she said -, there could not be a more beautiful way to celebrate mothers than to go and get one that, after a very hard battle , he goes home with the family he fought for. Now we will take care of them, so that they can start, as soon as possible, the new life they have longed for. "

The lawyer of Simonetta's family is very keen to thank the consul Daniele Sfregola: "Since Tuesday, since I received the assignment, we have been in touch 24 hours a day. The operative network set up by the consul has never made Simonetta lack anything. , even Italian food. I therefore thank the consul and the ambassador for their availability and the operational role they had ". And the first thing he did was send him a message to tell him that the Galli-Filippini family had arrived.
