Munich (dpa / lby) - In Bavaria's state capital Munich, the beer gardens can open from next Wednesday due to the lower number of corona cases.

The Ministry of Health has approved a corresponding application from the city of Munich, said a ministry spokesman on Sunday at the dpa request.

Munich is considered the center of Bavarian beer garden culture.

Large facilities with thousands of seats in some cases attract locals and visitors from all over the world in the summer.

Street cafes and other leisure facilities are also allowed to open if they comply with strict hygiene requirements.

Among other things, there is a mask requirement - with the exception of the seat.

If people from more than one household sit at the table, there is an obligation to test.

As early as Monday, the Ministry of Health allowed 13 districts and independent cities in Bavaria to open outdoor restaurants because their seven-day incidence (new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week) is stable below 100.

On Tuesday, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen is allowed to open another circle, Munich will follow on Wednesday.
