According to the agency, the ceremony was attended by employees of diplomatic missions of the CIS countries and representatives of public and veteran organizations of Great Britain.

Russian Ambassador to Britain Andrei Kelin, during his address to the audience, stressed that in the United Kingdom, unlike a number of other European countries, "they honor history and do not allow themselves to destroy monuments."

“It is important to remember all the allies of the Second World War who fought shoulder to shoulder against Nazism and made a significant contribution to the victory over the common enemy with their heroic deeds,” he said.

Earlier, a parade on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War ended in Moscow; in the final part of the event, 76 planes and helicopters flew over Red Square.
