May 09, 2021In the night, riots and clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police at the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem, as tens of thousands of Muslim faithful prayed in the nearby al-Aqsa mosque. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, at least 100 people were injured, including a one-year-old child, and 14 were taken to hospital.



Israeli police reported that around 20 soldiers and at least one officer were injured. Islamic authorities estimate that there were 90,000 people gathered for night prayers in al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr, which commemorates the night the Quran was revealed for the first time to the Prophet Mohammed.     



Violent clashes have also been reported near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. 



Rocket from Gaza to Israel, which bombards the Strip
