He got away with a 9-day ITT and a serious hand injury.

But the outcome could have been more dramatic.

A man was indicted for attempted homicide and imprisoned in Lyon after hitting a police officer with a screwdriver during an intervention, we learn from the Lyon prosecutor's office.

The facts took place in Villeurbanne, on Friday May 7 in the early morning.

A BAC patrol was called in for a break-in at a telephone store at 4:10 a.m.

When the police arrived, several individuals fled, one of whom was caught.

At that moment, the thief turned around to give the policeman a violent blow with a screwdriver in the stomach.

The latter nevertheless managed to dodge the blow by putting his hand in opposition, says the prosecution.

But the tool punctured his hand.

Seriously injured, the policeman had to be operated on.

The suspect, whose criminal record shows 13 convictions, was remanded in custody following his indictment.
