The two Moroccan children, Marwa and Umima, are busy drawing and coloring landmarks from Jerusalem in the courtyard of the house. Their father, Mustafa Boukhalifa, supervises the drawing workshop, while mother Malika prepares a special breakfast meal to participate in an initiative called by the Moroccan Commission to Advocate the Nation’s Causes entitled “I am Moroccan my breakfast is Jerusalemite”.

Mrs. Malika Knocked prepared a Palestinian maqluba, and she learned this dish - as she told Al-Jazeera Net - from the Hama of her Palestinian friend, who was her neighbor in the city of Agadir (southern Morocco), until she perfected it and became an approved recipe for her.

The maqlouba plate was in the middle of the family breakfast table, along with harira soup, chebakia sweets and dates, and the family members gathered around the dining table, while the walls of the living room were decorated with the flags of Palestine and Morocco and signs affirming the place of Jerusalem in the hearts of Moroccans.

And Bukhalifa is keen, as he told Al-Jazeera Net, to link his children to the Palestinian cause through various means, teaching them the places, Jerusalem's heritage, the history of Palestine, cities and personalities. And her legacy.

Diversifying methods of solidarity

The Moroccan Association for Supporting the Nation's Causes launched the Moroccan Al-Maqdisi Iftar initiative, and invited Moroccans to participate in it on the last Friday of Ramadan by preparing Jerusalem food and raising Palestinian flags.

Muhammad al-Riahi al-Idrisi, a member of the commission’s central office, says that this initiative began last year in the context of diversifying the methods and forms of solidarity with the Palestinian cause in general, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular.

He added to Al-Jazeera Net that this year's Iftar version coincided with the critical circumstances that the Palestinian cause is going through after the announcement of the so-called "Deal of the Century", which, according to him, was intended to finish off the remaining rights of the Palestinian people, and the continuation of Judaization, settlement, arrest, murder and displacement schemes. .

He pointed out that the Jerusalem breakfast is an occasion to emphasize the centrality of the Palestinian issue and its importance to the Moroccan people, who have been expressing their association and support for the Palestinian cause whenever the opportunity arises, noting that Moroccans have a door in Jerusalem overlooking the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Moroccan neighborhood in which Moroccan blood mixed with the Palestinian land Blessed.

Harira with the buoy

Moroccan Aida Al-Ta’ami also participated in the Jerusalem Iftar initiative, and she began iftar with her family by reading Al-Fatiha and praying for the Palestinians for victory in their just cause. She also decorated the house with Palestinian flags and pictures of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Aida explains to Al-Jazeera Net that she was keen to talk about the Palestinian popular dishes on the breakfast table with her children, who said that the Zionist occupation, after it seized the land, seeks to steal it and attribute it to him.

This is not the first time that the Arab Moroccan Al-Najjar participates in this event, as besides the Palestinian flags and messages of solidarity with the people of Palestine, at the family breakfast table, Harira soup, Moroccan tea cups with Awamah dishes, crispy chicken in the oriental way, and Shami sweets with nuts juxtaposed at the family breakfast table.

Al-Najjar's family works in this way to create a connection at the table between Moroccan and Palestinian cooking, and to introduce children to Palestinian cuisine as it is part of the Palestinian culture that the occupation seeks to erase.

An intense engagement

The Moroccan Commission’s call to support the nation’s causes met with remarkable interaction, and the body’s page on social media sites was filled, tonight, with pictures of families gathering around Moroccan Jerusalem breakfast tables, and every family tried to make every effort to prepare Palestinian dishes, decorate their homes with Palestinian pictures and flags, and involve their children in preparing for this event. .

Riahi said that this year's Jerusalem breakfast coincided with the gift of Jerusalemites in the face of the occupying entity, and the settlers' calls to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the 28th of Ramadan, and the high pace of official Arab normalization with the Zionists, which made - according to his expression - intensive participation from various Moroccan cities, children, men and women. And sheikhs, united by the slogan "I am Moroccan, my breakfast is my Jerusalem," in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinians, who stand on the first front line in front of the occupation authorities.

Through this event, the families are keen to deepen the link between the Palestinian and Moroccan peoples, and to send messages that they are not alone in the battle to preserve the Palestinian heritage and identity.

In fact, the Moroccans are on their side in their battle.
