Düsseldorf (dpa) - So that students can compensate for learning delays caused by Corona, the district governments in North Rhine-Westphalia have approved 3.3 million euros for extracurricular education and care offers in the past two months.

The school ministry announced on Sunday that the money will flow into around 1,500 measures.

It had made a total of 36 million euros available for the “Extra time to learn” program, which is to run from March 2021 to summer 2022.

"Our goal is that no pupil should suffer any disadvantages for the further education path as a result of the pandemic," said School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) according to the announcement.

The figures for March and April showed that the offer was met with great interest.
