Mainz (AP) - DFB Vice President Rainer Koch has accepted the apology from association chief Fritz Keller after his settlement with a notorious Nazi judge, but apparently he has not accepted it.

“It's a very personal situation,” said Koch in the ZDF's “Current Sports Studio”.

He did not comment on the incident at all and did not report it.

The 62-year-old was compared to the former Nazi judge Roland Freisler at a presidium meeting in April, which caused outrage among many.

The DFB regional leaders withdrew their trust in Keller last Sunday.

On Friday evening, the heads of the regional and state associations of the German Football Association (DFB) repeated their call to resignation to Keller and called on the DFB board to remove the president from office.

Earlier, in his first official statement after the amateur camp's vote of no confidence, Keller had again asked for forgiveness, but had not resigned.

Keller's deputy added that he has been a professional judge for 32 years, “and I am very personally concerned. Mr. Freisler, Roland Freisler, was a blood judge, an executioner in robe. He has led many thousands of people to their death, »said Koch. “And when such a statement is made to someone who has devoted his life to law, then I believe that such concern is understandable. That's why I accepted the apology, but it's not my job to decide how things should be viewed overall with a view to the DFB, "said Koch.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had previously asked Koch to accept Keller's apology.

"I basically got to know Fritz Keller as a honest, serious and loving person," said the chief executive of FC Bayern Munich yesterday evening on the TV broadcaster Sky.

«He knows himself that what happened there was a serious derailment.

He apologized for it, and I think it is, I have to say that very clearly, not just a beautiful gesture, but a gesture not only to accept this apology, but also to accept it.
