Mannheim (dpa / lnw) - The ladies of the Düsseldorf HC are German field hockey champions for the first time.

The Rhinelander prevailed on Sunday in the final against the host Mannheimer HC with 3-2 in the penalty shootout.

The decision was made by national player Selin Oruz as the tenth shooter.

As in the semi-finals, the match winner at the DHC was Nathalie Kubalski.

"I'm relieved, overjoyed and very proud of the girls," said the national goalkeeper.

In the 1-1 draw in regular time, Emma Sophie Heßler (18th minute) brought the DHC into the lead with a penalty corner, before Florencia Habif (54th) also equalized with a penalty corner.
