Warnemünde (dpa / mv) - Just one week after the last departure, the cruise ship “Aidasol” arrived back in Warnemünde on Saturday. The reason for the second attempt within a few days without passengers are final tests and the acceptance of the new shore power system. This is to be put into operation on Monday as part of the 12th National Maritime Conference by Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier (CDU), the Federal Government's coordinator for the maritime industry, Norbert Brackmann, and Rostock's Mayor Claus Ruhe Madsen (independent). According to the city, it is currently the largest shore power plant in Europe and can supply two cruise ships with electricity at the same time.

According to the city, tests of the system last week were successful.

The ship was supplied with electrical energy with the help of the shore power system and the diesel-powered power supply was removed from the on-board network.

With the help of the shore power system, the emission of harmful exhaust gases should be significantly reduced during the ships' stay.
