Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The release of the corona vaccinations with the active ingredient of Astrazenca for people under 60 years of age without prioritization has no effect on the vaccination centers in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The State Ministry of Health pointed this out on Sunday.

The country is currently not receiving Astrazeneca vaccine for primary vaccinations in the vaccination centers.

People under the age of 60 could be vaccinated with Astrazenaca in a doctor's office regardless of their prioritization.

The prerequisite is an individual risk analysis and thorough information from the doctor.

A shortening of the period until the second vaccination to up to four weeks can also be agreed with the doctor.

This is also possible for people who have already been vaccinated with Astrazenaca by the doctor.

In the vaccination centers, already agreed second vaccination dates could not be brought forward due to the associated organizational effort.

The conference of health ministers had extended the recommendation for the interval between first and second vaccination with Astrazeneca to a period of four to twelve weeks.

The NRW Ministry of Health points out, however, that the longer the interval between the first and second dose, the higher the effectiveness.

NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) emphasized that the vaccination centers were still necessary even with increased vaccinations by the resident doctors.

"These will now mainly vaccinate people who receive a vaccination offer because of their profession," he said, according to the statement.
