Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBB) has pointed out that due to a lack of vaccines, not all citizens entitled to vaccinate could get an appointment quickly.

The amount of vaccine for first vaccinations is still very limited, said KVBB chairman Peter Noack on Sunday.

For example, the federal government announced that a maximum of twelve vaccination doses from the manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer per doctor could be ordered for vaccinations in the practices in the week from May 17.

At the same time, the willingness to vaccinate is very high.

Noack therefore asked the citizens who wanted to be vaccinated for their understanding: "I can understand that it leads to disappointment if one is eligible for vaccination but does not get an appointment," he said. "However, I cannot understand when people let their frustration run free in the call center, in the doctor's office or in the administration of the KVBB." Such insults are unbearable and do not lead to a faster appointment.

Noack welcomed the decision of the conference of health ministers to increase flexibility in vaccinations with the active ingredient from Astrazeneca.

After that, the doctor is free, in consultation with the person being vaccinated, to set the interval between four and twelve weeks for a second vaccination.

"This gives us significantly more flexibility when it comes to vaccinations in the doctor's surgeries and makes it easier to integrate vaccination appointments into everyday practice and standard care," emphasized Noack.
