Flensburg (dpa / lno) - An aircraft bomb from the Second World War was successfully defused on Saturday in Flensburg.
The explosive ordnance disposal experts took a good one and a half hours to work on the dud with two detonators, then the police gave the all-clear at 4:46 p.m.
The road closures around Eckener Platz were lifted and the 16,500 or so residents who had to leave their apartments and houses in the morning were able to return.
The defusing could only begin one hour late, as there were still a few people in the evacuated area and police officers said they had to be escorted out.
But there were no incidents.
The bomb had been discovered during construction work on the sports field Eckenerstraße.
