Rostock (dpa / mv) - The new summer night train line between Basel and the Baltic Sea resort of Binz is now making a stop in Rostock.

However, the stop is not in the main train station, but in the suburb of Kassebohm, as the private Cologne train operator Train4You reported.

According to the plans, the train commutes between Basel and the Baltic Sea on the weekends between July 2 and August 13.

In Basel, the start is scheduled for Friday evening, and Binz will be reached late on Saturday morning.

The return journeys are planned for Saturday evening in Binz.

As Train4you further reported, the central stop at Rostock main station is also planned for the 2022 season.

The trains stop in Freiburg, Mannheim, Frankfurt am Main, Hanover, Hamburg, Schwerin and Stralsund - they have sleeping and couchette cars.

For the managing director of the regional tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf, this is good news for tourism, which may soon start again.

"You simply can't drive past Rostock," said Rostock's infrastructure senator Holger Matthäus.

"The future belongs to the night train as a comfortable and climate-friendly travel option," said Train4you managing director Niko Maedge.

He was confident that Rostock, with its large catchment area, would benefit from the new holiday express connection.
