A government source said that the debris of the rocket that China launched last month to build a space station is expected to crash into the South Pacific around noon today (9th).

The source told Yonhap News that the crash site of China's space launch vehicle "Changjeong-5B" "is predicted to be in the South Pacific near Australia."

The Ministry of Science and ICT also announced yesterday that the debris is expected to fall in the South Pacific at around 11:40 am today.

As a result of monitoring the trajectory of the rocket by the Korea Astronomical Research Institute, there is no possibility of a crash on the Korean peninsula unless the debris passes through the Korean Peninsula and there are no variables such as colliding with other objects.

The debris of the crashing'Changjeong-5B' is estimated to be 20t in weight, 31m in length, and 5m in diameter.
