The CDC of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reviewing whether seasonal vaccine booster shots, that is, additional vaccinations to increase the effectiveness of the vaccine, are being reviewed, CNN broadcast reported on the 8th local time.

CDC Director Rochelle Wallensky said in an interview on Instagram, "We want to be prepared for the worst while hoping for the best."

Wallensky said CDC researchers are looking into whether the vaccine's immune effects weaken over time, as well as whether a booster shot targeting certain strains of coronavirus that has already entered the United States is needed.
