SNP leader and also Scotland's regional prime minister Nicola Sturgeon is demanding a referendum on independence from Britain following the victory in the Scottish Parliamentary election.

The Scottish Nationalist Party did not succeed in gaining its own majority, but together with the Greens there is now a majority who want a new referendum.

- Boris Johnson will say no.

But then Nicola Sturgeon will push this forward, certainly up in the courts and it can be a very long, dirty and protracted battle, says Anna-Maja Persson.

SNP wants to see a legal referendum so that the country can later apply for new membership in the EU.

But that it would be voted for independence in a possible referendum is far from certain.

- Half of the Scots do not want independence but continue to belong to the UK, it is important to remember, says Anna-Maja Persson.
