Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The CDU state chairman Thomas Strobl has announced a comprehensive review of the election disaster for his party in the state elections in mid-March.

"Government participation will by no means serve as a fig leaf for our problems," said Strobl on Saturday at the state party conference of the Southwest CDU in Stuttgart with a view to the new edition of the green-black coalition.

The historically worst result was a "huge disappointment" and a turning point in the history of the party, which must be thoroughly analyzed and addressed.

The work-up process will take until autumn, said Strobl.

Experts and opinion research institutes will be involved.

The CDU will work out a design for an organizational and structural reform.

A commission is to draft a roadmap for the processing.

In the state elections, the Greens in Baden-Württemberg had a historic victory, leaving their coalition partner CDU 8.5 percentage points behind.
