Bremen (AP) - Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt suppressed thoughts of his own future before the Bundesliga duel with Bayer Leverkusen.

"I'm a Bundesliga coach, there is a certain professional risk involved," said the head coach of the Bundesliga club in danger of relegation on Saturday on Sky TV.

It is “just about keeping the class and that Werder Bremen stays in,” said the 38-year-old.

"Whether it will be my penultimate home game or 186 will come after that, we can answer that sometime in the future, but certainly not now."

Kohfeldt had been publicly questioned by those responsible after seven league defeats in a row and had only received a job guarantee for the semi-finals in the DFB Cup against RB Leipzig last Friday after the 1: 3 at Union Berlin.

Despite the departure, the Bremen bosses confessed to Kohfeldt because of the convincing fighting performance of the team.

However, it is highly likely that they will part ways after this season regardless of the outcome of the season.

"This week we discussed a clear schedule that we would get together after the season, as we do every year," said Kohfeldt now.

"And then we will compare whether the paths are further together or whether it is better for Werder Bremen if something else happens."

Licensed player boss Clemens Fritz had recently rejected speculation that a farewell to Kohfeldt after this season was already a done deal.
