Frankfurt / Main (AP) - The German Football League (DFL), the German Football Association (DFB) and national coach Joachim Löw have congratulated FC Bayern Munich on the ninth German championship in a row.

"The team around world goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and world footballer Robert Lewandowski has once again shown outstanding performance and decided the long contested title race by asserting itself in the crucial moments of this Bundesliga season," said DFL managing director Christian Seifert on Saturday.

Bayern were already the title holders before their Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the evening. For FC Bayern Munich it was the 30th German championship title in Bundesliga times and at the same time the seventh national and international title within a year. "Seven titles in less than twelve months - this great record speaks for itself," said Seifert.

DFB President Fritz Keller congratulated Bayern on the title "and thus the fifth star.

31 championships, nine of them in a row - these are outstanding successes and an expression of a unique consistency, ”said the head of the association.

DFB director Oliver Bierhoff emphasized the continuity of the German record champions.

"Winning 31 titles is a true masterpiece and an unbelievable brand that has been testimony to the quality, winning mentality and dominance of this club for decades - nationally and internationally," said the former striker.
