Covid-19 in France: some indicators go green

Prime Minister Jean Castex reaffirmed on Saturday that the objective is to have 20 million vaccinated in France by mid-May.

Fewer contaminations, fewer positive cases, fewer hospitalized patients and more vaccinated, the indicators of the Covid-19 epidemic are improving but health experts remain cautious on the eve of the next stages of deconfinement deemed to be at risk.

If the drop in contamination has put the brakes on new hospitalizations, the red alert triggered for months continues.

Indeed, in intensive care, it is caution, the number of Covid-19 patients remains high.

With more than 5,200 people, the bed capacity is at its maximum.

So be careful because this tension has repercussions on other treatments.

Last week, deprogramming reached 42% of surgical activities and 48% of operating theaters had to be closed, according to figures revealed by the Scientific Council.

Another rather encouraging figure concerns the drop in the number of hospital deaths between 200 to 300 people per day.

The vast majority of those most affected by the pandemic remain the elderly and the most fragile.

On the eve of this

, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran calls on the French to be massively tested, and on the vaccination side, he wanted an unprecedented mobilization of vaccination centers from this weekend.

Castex urges those over 55 to get vaccinated with AstraZeneca

After visiting a new vaccination center near Paris, the Prime Minister warned the French: it is everyone who is responsible for returning to normal.

To do this, Jean Castex calls on them to remain very careful and to be vaccinated, in particular those over 55, who are too resistant to doses of AstraZeneca.
