Munich (AP) - FC Bayern Munich is the 31st time German soccer champions.

After the 2: 3 defeat of RB Leipzig at Borussia Dortmund, Munich can no longer be ousted from first place by the Saxons, who have seven points less.

The home game of Bayern in the evening (6.30 p.m.) against Borussia Mönchengladbach is therefore no longer decisive for the title fight.

It is the ninth championship in a row for the Munich team.

And for the 30th title win in Bundesliga times, they now receive a fifth championship star on their jerseys.

"Of course we want to get it," said coach Hansi Flick before the 32nd matchday.

For attacker Thomas Müller and defender David Alaba it is the tenth championship title, making them the record champions among the players.

For Bayern, who achieved the triple last season, the championship is the only title win this year.

In the DFB Cup they were eliminated in the second round against the second division Holstein Kiel.

And in the Champions League they failed as defending champions in the quarter-finals at Paris Saint-Germain.

For Hansi Flick, the seventh title win is under his leadership as head coach and the farewell gift to FC Bayern.

The 56-year-old will terminate his contract early at the end of the season.

Flick is traded as the successor to national coach Joachim Loew.

The 61-year-old will be leaving the DFB after the European Championship this summer.

Flick's successor as Bayern coach will be Julian Nagelsmann, who is moving from RB Leipzig to Munich for a high transfer fee.
