Aliyev noted that May 9 occupies a special place in the history of the two peoples and remains a symbol of unparalleled courage, heroism and dedication.
He also wished well-being to war veterans, home front workers and the entire Russian people.
Earlier, Putin congratulated the leaders and citizens of the CIS countries, as well as the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine on the 76th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
