A murder investigation was opened Friday after the discovery of the charred body of a septuagenarian in her henhouse, near her house in a village north-east of Angoulême, we learned this Saturday from the prosecution .

When it was found by a local resident, around 11 a.m. Friday, the body of the septuagenarian was lying charred in the henhouse, a few meters from her home located in the village of Les Pins, in the heart of the Charente Limousine.

According to the first elements of the investigation, entrusted to the gendarmes of the Poitiers research section, the entrance to the house bore the scars of a fire and the shutters of the door had been meticulously cut off.

A cut "one meter by 80 cm", indicates the mayor of Pins, Didier Sellier.

According to a source close to the investigation, a neighbor heard the noise of a chainsaw at 5:30 a.m., as well as a car starting shortly after.

The trail of a burglary ruled out

But the track of a burglary which would have gone badly seems however ruled out, given that the house was not searched by the attacker (s), notes a source close to the file.

On Friday, the gendarmes, in particular those of the criminal identification, carried out the findings to identify traces and clues.

They also interviewed neighbors and took DNA samples.

At this stage, no one has been taken into police custody.

The attacker (s) are still wanted.

Autopsy scheduled for Monday

An autopsy will be performed on Monday at the Poitiers forensic institute to try to determine the circumstances of the death of the septuagenarian.

The latter, very active in local life, lived alone in this house located in a small hamlet and had been a widow for ten years.

"The investigation is underway and there are still many checks to be carried out to achieve something positive," says one on the side of the Angoulême prosecutor's office.
