Frankfurt (Oder) (dpa / bb) - The artists Manfred Zoller, Adelheid Fuss, Anna Franziska Schwarzbach and Hans-Jörg Rafalski are awarded the 18th Brandenburg Art Prize of the Neuhardenberg Foundation and the “Märkische Oderzeitung”.

The foundation announced on Friday.

The prize is endowed with 4,000 euros each. 

According to the announcement, the painter Zoller will be honored for a three-part paper collage made of colored paper from the series “Wilhelm Hauff's Fairy Tale Almanac”. Fuss won in the graphics category with the seven-part series “Erdachtes Land”. Schwarzbach impressed with her sculpture “One” in the plastic category, while the photographer Rafalski won an award for his photo series “The new Oder-Havel Canal 2020 - built emptiness”. The prize for photography is made possible by the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung.

In addition, the painter Barbara Raetsch received the honorary award from the Prime Minister (Dietmar Woidke) for her life's work, as it was said.

The honorary award is endowed with 10,000 euros.

The young talent award from the Ministry of Science goes to the photographer and video artist Luise Schröder.

With a six-month scholarship she receives 1,000 euros every month.

Works by the winners and artists from the final selection of the jury will be shown in an exhibition in the palace from Sunday.

A time slot ticket booked in advance (online or by phone at 033 476 600-750) and medical mouth and nose protection are required for a visit.

A public award ceremony is not planned this year, as a spokeswoman said.

There will be a small award ceremony due to corona in August, but a date has not yet been set.

The Brandenburg Art Prize has been awarded since 2004, and more than 300 artists applied this year.
